CES Visionaries: Gaurav Talwar, Brilliant Polymers

Episode 1 · 43:33

Open your fridge, your medicine cabinet, a packet of chips — almost every flexible package in an Indian home is held together by a laminating adhesive. Gaurav Talwar makes them. As Managing Director of Brilliant Polymers, he runs one of India's largest producers of laminating adhesives for flexible packaging, supplying food, pharma and consumer goods manufacturers across India and exporting to the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia — from a plant in Ambernath, less than two hours from where we're sitting. It's also a second act. His father founded Converter Adhesives, a pioneer in packaging adhesives, and sold it to Henkel. Brilliant was started from scratch in 2011. In this episode we talk about building in an industry nobody grows up dreaming about, what it takes to compete with BASF and Dow from Maharashtra, and why the least visible products are sometimes the best businesses.
